About Kamrup College,Chamata:

Kamrup College, Chamata, a premier and one of the oldest institution of Higher Education in West Nalbari area, was established in the year 1966 (July 25) At present, a provincialised undergraduate Arts College, it has traversed almost 47 years of its glorious existence in the field of Higher Education. I am indeed grateful to the extraordinary vision and farsightedness of the people of the entire locality whose untiring efforts gave birth to this noble institution in the sixties of the last century While we should be justifiably proud of the achievements of the college in its journey of nearly five decades, we should also give serious introspection as to the deficiencies and drawbacks that we must remove, and the higher goals that we must reach in near future. We should all pledge to work together to meet this college a center of excellence. Our college has been playing a vital role in the expansion of higher education in the entire Paschim Nalbari area. The college has a glorious past and it has succeeded in producing a large number of brilliant students in University and Council examinations and many of them are well placed in social life. In spite of limited infrastructure, the exemplary perseverance and team-spirit of our faculties and students have strengthen the academic atmosphere to achieve the desired goal of quality education. Now, quality and excellence are the basic needs of Higher Education. Quality higher education is essential organism for socio-economic transformation. At Kamrup College, Chamata we do remain committed to promote all the seven criteria identified by NMC. We were assessed by NAAC in the year 2004 and accredited B+ grade (institutional score 78%). Now, it is high time for re-accreditation It is to be borne in mind that development whether it is in the academic or in the infrastructural aspects is a continuous and never ending process. Brick and mortar alone cannot be equated to quality education. We ore planning to introduce a few career-oriented and vocational subjects in the near future for creating self-sufficiency and self employment avenues amongst students of our locality. It is indeed a privilege on my part to give a hearty welcome to those who are willing to pursue their education at Kumrup College, Chomata. sincerely hope that all stakeholders will work hard and join hands collectively to raise the standard of the college in order to deserve real accolades and to make this institution a real center of excellence.
